I’m in my cozy spot this morning.
You know the one – we all have it, or we wish we did. That place in your home where everything feels right. For me, it’s the corner of my couch with a heated blanket (light, but warm), my laptop on my lap, and coffee on a warmer beside me. The TV plays a YouTube video of a fall lake scene – all orange and yellow autumn leaves – with smooth morning jazz playing softly. The sun is just peeking over the trees outside my big picture window, and I can hear the fountain bubbling in the lake outside.
This is my sanctuary.
After the week I’ve had – the meetings, the emotional work, the hustle, the giving everything I had – this morning is necessary. Not indulgent. Necessary.
Because coffee isn’t just a beverage for me. It’s a ritual.
The coffee warmer isn’t about convenience. It’s about creating an environment where I don’t have to rush. Where I can sip slowly. Where the morning doesn’t demand anything from me except to be present.
This is self-care. This is celebration. This is me honoring myself after a massive week.
And here’s what I’ve learned: This peaceful morning? This is where tomorrow’s creativity gets born.
When I force productivity, when I grind through exhaustion, when I don’t create space for my soul to rest – nothing good comes. But when I honor the need to sit, to reflect, to just BE with my coffee and the morning light?
That’s when ideas flow. That’s when clarity comes. That’s when I remember who I am beyond the doing.
This isn’t wasted time. This IS the work.
The work of:
- Listening to what I need
- Trusting myself enough to take it
- Creating sanctuary even when life is full
- Honoring the rhythm of give and rest
Later today, when it warms up, I’ll take a walk on the beach. Not because I “should” exercise. But because it will feel good. Because I’m learning to trust myself – to know when to push and when to pause, when to be “on” and when to just be.
This is what Coffee & Words is really about.
Not just the mugs (though they’re coming). Not just the blog posts.
But this practice of honoring your morning coffee moments as sacred.
The moments when:
- You create space for your soul to rest
- You let yourself just be
- You trust that the creativity will come when you stop forcing it
- You remember that you’re allowed to feel good, secure, happy about who you are
So here’s my invitation: Create your cozy spot.
Make it intentional. Add the blanket. Light the candle. Put on the music. Use the coffee warmer (or whatever keeps your coffee perfect). Look out the window. Listen to the fountain or the birds or the silence.
And know that this isn’t indulgence.
This is where tomorrow’s creativity is born.
This is your Saturday morning sanctuary. And you’ve earned it. ☕
