Some mornings, you just need one word

I’ve been moving through a season of loss lately. The kind that quietly reshapes everything, including how you think, what you reach for and what feels possible on any given morning.

This morning I reached for words.

I opened my email and there it was, a daily blessing I’ve been receiving. Simple. Quiet. Just enough. I read it and something shifted. Not dramatically. Just… a little.

I picked up my coffee mug, my own Tracy mug, and just held it for a moment.

And then I had a thought that felt less like a business idea and more like a need: What if I could open my cabinet and choose a mug with a blessing on it? One word. One truth. Something to hold all morning.

Not a stack. Not a collection. Just one mug that meets me where I am.

And then I thought about a friend who is grieving right now, too, someone I learned about through a social media post. My mind went straight back to my own post just a few weeks ago, sharing my dad’s obituary, and all the other announcements on that same obituary page. There are no words big enough for what we are all carrying. But maybe there’s one. Maybe there’s a mug I could send her, something she could wrap her hands around and feel held by, even from a distance.

That’s where the Blessings collection was born. Right here, in my cozy spot, on a morning when I needed it myself.

The first one chose me, not the other way around. The word in today’s blessing was Resilience. And I think that’s exactly right.

Your resilience is remarkable. You’ve weathered storms and are still standing, still growing, still reaching toward the light. That’s strength.

It’ll be the first Blessing mug. And I think someone out there needs to hold it, too.

Resilience is one of those words. It arrived not as a reminder of what you should be, but as a recognition of what you already are. You have weathered the storms. You are still standing. Still growing. Still reaching toward the light. That is strength — and it deserves to be held in your hands every morning. Coffee & Words
Resilience: Your resilience is remarkable. You have weathered storms and are still standing, still growing, still reaching toward the light. That is strength.

My blessing for today:

Resilince
[reh-ZIL-ee-uhns], noun
Latin resilire, “to spring back”
Your resilience is remarkable. You have weathered storms and are still standing, still growing, still reaching toward the light. That is strength.
